Indian citizens require a visa for all visits. eVisa is available for tourism since 2023.

5-7 working days (eVisa); 7-10 working days (sticker visa).

Single-entry: 90 days. Multiple-entry: up to 5 years (frequent travellers).

Eligibility
Indian passport holders travelling for leisure, family visit, or sightseeing.
Fee
₹450 approx (paid to VFS) + service charge.
Documents Required
- Passport (valid 6+ months, 2 blank pages)
- Visa application form (filled & signed)
- 2 recent passport-size photos (45×45mm, white background)
- Confirmed flight tickets (round-trip)
- Hotel bookings for entire stay
- Day-wise itinerary in Japan
- Bank statements (last 6 months)
- Income Tax Returns (last 2 years)
- Employment letter / business proof
- Cover letter explaining purpose of visit
Important Precautions
- Apply at least 2-3 weeks before travel — peak season (March-April, Oct-Nov) adds delays.
- Bank balance should comfortably cover the trip (₹1.5-2 lakhs minimum for 7 days).
- Don't book non-refundable tickets before visa is issued.
- Submit a clear, day-by-day itinerary — Japan checks this carefully.
- Frequent travellers (3+ visits in 3 years) can apply for 3-5 year multi-entry visa.
